Jaki Underwood, Editor-in-Chief

When I first sat down with Jaki Underwood in early 2024, I pitched an idea that felt ambitious—maybe even a little crazy. I wanted to launch a magazine that would bridge real estate, business, and community. Without hesitation, Jaki saw the vision and said, “Let’s do it.” That unwavering belief in possibility defines her approach—both in real estate and in life.

I have known Jaki and her family for over eight years, and throughout that time, I’ve witnessed her dedication to her community and her ability to bring people together. Now, as Arizona Ascent Magazine celebrates its first anniversary and Jaki marks two years with Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty, it’s the perfect time to reflect on her incredible journey.

A Leader in Real Estate and Publishing

With over 15 years of experience and more than $200 million in luxury real estate sales, Jaki has built a career on trust, expertise, and an intuitive understanding of her clients’ needs. She doesn’t just sell homes—she helps people find where their lives will unfold.

Her passion for storytelling and connection made her the perfect choice to guide the vision of Arizona Ascent Magazine as Editor-in-Chief. Just as she understands that a home is more than four walls, she knows that a magazine is more than just pages—it’s a platform for connection.

“Storytelling has always been a part of what I do,” Jaki says. “Whether it’s helping a family find their dream home or highlighting Arizona’s business leaders, it all comes down to people and their journeys.”

Under Jaki’s leadership, Arizona Ascent has become more than just a publication—it’s a movement. By showcasing the intersections of business, real estate, and lifestyle, the magazine offers a fresh perspective on Arizona’s growth and culture. In just one year, Arizona Ascent has become a vital platform for sharing the stories that shape our community.

More Than Just a Transaction

Jaki’s approach to real estate is deeply personal. Whether working with first-time buyers, retirees, or military families, she takes the time to understand each client’s unique needs. As a certified Military Relocation Professional, she specializes in making transitions seamless.

“For me, real estate isn’t about closing deals—it’s about opening doors,” she says. “It’s about listening to people’s stories, understanding their aspirations, and helping them take that next step with confidence.”

A Key Player in Fountain Hills Real Estate

Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty holds a 17.2% market share in Fountain Hills, and Jaki’s dedication plays a key role in that success. Her market knowledge, negotiation skills, and unwavering commitment to her clients set her apart in a competitive industry.

Rooted in Family and Community

She is a devoted mother of two boys and a proud grandmother to three grandchildren.

Jaki and her husband, Bill, have lived in Fountain Hills for over 30 years, raising their family in a place they truly love. She is a devoted mother of two boys and a proud grandmother to three grandchildren. Beyond her professional achievements, Jaki is passionate about giving back. She actively supports organizations like Saint Vincent de Paul, reinforcing her belief that real estate isn’t just about property—it’s about people and community.

“Fountain Hills has given so much to my family,” she says. “I feel it’s important to give back in any way I can.”

Looking Ahead

Whether helping a family find their first home or an investor make a smart purchase, her goal remains the same: to make real estate a rewarding experience.

Her dual role as a real estate expert and the driving force behind Arizona Ascent allows her to connect with the community in a unique way—offering both real estate expertise and a platform for local stories, business spotlights, and lifestyle content.
